DISCIPLINED FROM JEHOVAH! WHY?
Why should anyone seek to discipline from Jehovah? I know it sounds like a trick question, however, in this imperfect world, time and unforeseen circumstances, happen to us all. For instance, If someone told me that one day in my life I was going to have a hard time resisting the desire to commit murder, I would have thought they must be tripping on some hard drugs, and they need to stop because you are over-dosing, you are over-dosing!? However, I wish someone had warned me more about that because it happened! Never say never, so to speak? In time I learned that the discipline I had received from Jehovah, over the years, was quite enough. The Bible is packed full of warnings and examples of our times. Jehovah has used his qualities, Love, Wisdom, Power, and Justice, to prepare his word for us; to this day it is still perfect. 2 Tim. 3:16 states: All Scripture is inspired by God+ and beneficial for teaching,+ for reproving, for setting things straight,+ for disciplining in righteousness,+ So by loving God's word and reading in it each day, God will cause us to be prepared for whatever comes our way. Granted, it is not going to be very pleasant, by his word is truly a lamp for our foot and a light for our roadway.(Psalm 119:105)
WHAT IS DISCIPLINE?
One can find many other expressions of what discipline means to them, for one is disciplined by a lot of things, entities, and influences, right or wrong, but only
Jehovah offers us the most important discipline.
HOW DOES ONE LEARN TO VALUE JEHOVAH'S DISCIPLINE?
Over the years, of reading and meditating on God's word, one can't help but notice that Jehovah is the same Jehovah, and he does not change, and he is always reliable, and we can learn to be just as reliable ourselves, and gradually becoming more like him ourselves, in imitation in God', love, wisdom, power, and justice. It's natural for one to look up to someone they love and respect as a father, and strive to be more like them.
ACCEPTING DISCIPLINE FROM ALL LEVELS OF AUTHORITY?
Accepting discipline, from all levels of authority, can be difficult at times, but we must be fair, and give credit, where credit is due. We must always respect the position, of authority, represented, and just let love cover any imperfections or flaws we might notice, for we have them too.
CONCLUSION: HOW CAN THIS HELP ONE FACE ANY ADDICTION AND CONQUER IT?
In conclusion, how can Jehovah's discipline help us fight whatever addiction we might be facing? Reflecting back on our lives, when we first started to learn the truth of God's word, and the first time, we felt Jehovah's holy spirit, and realized, wow! this is the same power, that on a larger scale, broke apart the Red Sea so that the waters congealed and stopped the waters like a damn. Also, this is that same power, that protected the three Hebrew boys in the fiery finance and when they came back out, their clothes didn't have the smell of smoke, and when Jesus resurrected Lazarus, that power on a different level restored a man back to life and his flesh was as a babies flesh! Need one say more!? So with clean minds, clean bodies and a clean spirit, God's power can work it's wonders in our lives as well! Word indeed!
