The meaning of life.
If one asked this question to people at random, we will get a wide variety of answers, from doing God's will, getting rich, to sucking all the pleasure out of life, before we are dead, but what is the basic meaning of life? : The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the true God+
and keep his commandments,+ for this is the whole obligation of man. 14 For the true God will judge every deed, including every hidden thing, as to whether it is good or bad.+ (Elcc. 12:13,14) Many don't believe in God, so how can knowing this help them? Luke 6:31, Jesus commanded: “Just as you want men to do to you, do the same way to them.” What does this mean, for people can be very mean, and under many influences, and can do evil and annoying things to us? Does that mean we need to treat them the same way? Obviously not, but how do we apply the golden rule in such a case? We all have bad days, at times, so just as we want people to be understanding to us when we have bad days, we need to be understanding to others.
Getting rich?
What about pursuing riches? Could that be the true meaning of life? Being very rich certainly makes everyone happy. Well, yes it could, however, everyone does not know how to handle being very wealthy, they eventually are robed of much peace of mind, and never seem to have enough money, and do things to get more, bad things, and that causes them to need more money, to pay hush-money to the ones that know about the bad things that they did, and where all the bodies are buried. (Proverbs 28:20)
Living forever!
Living forever is the basic purpose of our Grand Creator. He has not changed, and the reason why most don't know it is because they don't know God, and because they have not begun to trust in him, and to trust his word.(Rom. 6:23)
